Key senior appointments as HCS Mechanical focuses on growth
HCS Mechanical Services is further strengthening its management team with the appointment of a new director and a health and safety manager.
Ashley Smith is promoted to commercial director, while experienced health and safety professional Anthony Smith joins the North Yorkshire heating and plumbing business from Hartlepool Borough Council.
Ashley has been with HCS Mechanical for eight years – with roles including contracts manager, and latterly commercial manager. He will drive the firm’s growth plans following the expansion of its operations into Scotland, where its sister business, Clarkes Environmental, is a leader in asbestos removal.
Anthony has more than 20 years’ experience as a health and safety manager within industry, including Sembcorp on Teesside, and Sellafield.
Ashley has overseen some of the biggest projects undertaken by HCS Mechanical Services, including £644,000 of work in six North Yorkshire schools this summer. He said: “We have an excellent reputation for the high quality of our work, and our customer service. I am looking forward to leading the growth of the business across northern England and Scotland.”
MD, Richard Clarke, commented: “As a trained engineer who has overseen many of our contracts, Ashley has already contributed enormously to our success. He understands both the needs of our customers, and of the business. We are pleased to welcome Anthony to the team. He has a wealth of health and safety management experience – having worked in both the public and private sectors – which will be invaluable.”
HCS Mechanical Services is part of Clarke’s Group, a third generation business founded in 1920, which also comprises Clarke’s Environmental, specialist asbestos removal experts. The companies operate out of Northallerton and Glasgow.
Both companies deliver services for wide-ranging public and private sector organisations, including local authorities, housing associations, schools, police authorities, prison services, as well as domestic and commercial customers.
